As notified in the previous A-IS Newsletter, the AGM at Plantation Place, 5th floor, 30 Fenchurch Street, London EC3M 3BD will be followed by a panel discussion celebrating the success in Indonesia of the UK government’s Chevening Scholarship programme. Chevening Scholarships bring exceptional individuals from around the world to study in the UK. Both HE Dr Rizal Sukma, the Indonesian Ambassador and his wife Ibu Hana Satriyo are Chevening alumni. In recent years the numbers coming from Indonesia have grown as the UK government has recognised the importance of the UK-Indonesia relationship. Paul Brummell CMG, Head of Soft Power and External Affairs Department at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, will give a short introduction, then three recent Chevening Scholars will share their experience of undertaking a Scholarship and what it has meant to them in their careers. As always there will be time for Q & A.

Thereafter there will be an opportunity to network and socialise over drinks and dinner of an Indonesian cuisine bowl of food to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the UK. The wine, lager and soft drinks will be free as usual. The menu is Indonesian chicken satay with peanut dipping sauce, Sumatran beef rendang curry with lemon grass & turmeric root rice, Indonesian style crepes filled with pandan infused candied coconut, 64% dark chocolate sauce.  Members who wish to take advantage of this should RSVP by Wednesday 6 November 2019 to Mariska Adamson-  programmecoordinator@angloindonesiansociety.org.  As places are limited, we are giving priority to members only.  Requests for guest spouses/partners to attend will be placed on a waiting list. Please indicate whether a vegetarian option is required.
