We moved forward several centuries from our talk about keris in April to cutting edge technology with our discussion about Artificial Intelligence (AI) in June.

Adhiguna Kuncoro of Google DeepMind delivered a broad-ranging and informative talk on AI to an enthusiastic and curious audience. As our talk coincided with London Tech Week (LTW) 2026, Indonesian AI professionals who attended the event from Jakarta also made their way to KBRI to listen to Adhiguna’s talk.

Adhiguna is a researcher in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing, and he is well-known in AI circles in Indonesia. He was asked questions by an Indonesian researcher who attended LTW about the latest trends in the AI industry such as the debate around Artificial General Intelligence.

AIS members had a lot of questions to Adhiguna, including on how AI could help Indonesians in their work and daily lives. Adhiguna also enjoyed presenting at AIS, “It was a great crowd with great questions, lots of enthusiasm. I enjoyed it a lot” he said. (Anton Alifandi)
