Higher Education: Indonesian and UK Relationship Tuesday, 11 February 2020 at  6.30pm for 6.45pm

Posted on December 8, 2019February 24, 2020 By Ati Kisjanto No Comments on Higher Education: Indonesian and UK Relationship Tuesday, 11 February 2020 at  6.30pm for 6.45pm

Venue: TBC

Higher Education (HE) is an increasingly important sector in the relationship between the UK and Indonesia. President Jokowi has made improving skills levels a top priority for his administration. Meanwhile, UK HE institutions, which have an enviable reputation for the standard of their teaching, are under pressure to expand their international networks, bring in more overseas students and market their services more effectively.

Our event on 11 February gave us a chance to find out more about this critical sector for both our countries. Associate Prof. Volkan Degirmenci, who is responsible for International Partnerships at A-IS corporate member Warwick University, talked about the great opportunities  – and some challenges – they are encountering as they develop their relationships in Indonesia, including with Universitas Gadjah Madah in Yogyakarta. Alongside that, a group of Indonesian and British students compared their experiences of studying in each other’s countries. It’s a great evening and our student members found it a real draw!
