In November 2022 Indonesia agreed a Just Energy Transition Partnership with its International Partners Group worth $20bn over three to five years to support the country’s acceleration away from fossil fuels and towards renewable resources. The UK has been a key member of the IPG.
It is hoped that the transition will not only deliver enhanced climate action, but support economic growth, new skilled jobs, reduced pollution, and a resilient, prosperous future for Indonesians. Sixteen months on from the announcement during the G20 Leaders Summit in Bali, progress is being made, but there is a lot still to do.
The AIS in collaboration with World Resources Institute is organising a roundtable that looked at latest developments and next steps for JETP Indonesia, including the recent Comprehensive Investment and Policy Plan (CIPP) published just before COP28 at the end of 2023.
