AIS Book Club. Laut Bercerita/The Sea Speaks His Name by Leila Chudori. Wednesday 10th January. 1 pm on Zoom.

Posted on January 2, 2024February 19, 2024 By Ati Kisjanto 2 Comments on AIS Book Club. Laut Bercerita/The Sea Speaks His Name by Leila Chudori. Wednesday 10th January. 1 pm on Zoom.

The Anglo-Indonesian Society Book Club will hold it’s next meeting, by Zoom, at 1pm on Wednesday 10th January, when it will discuss Laut Bercerita/The Sea Speaks His Name by Leila Chudori. The book can be read in either English or Indonesian, and the discussion will be in English. If you would like to take part, find yourself a copy of the book to read and drop a line to Ian Rowland at rowland@myphone.coop so that he can add you to the invitation list. The club will meet during the day for the January meeting, but will subsequently be meeting in the evening.

The AIS Book Club is open to all AIS members – non-members are welcome to take part, if you know anyone who would be interested in joining the Club, but will be asked to join the Society.

As Indonesian novels can be tricky to track down, we plan our reading some way ahead, to give time for books to be sourced. The next novel we will read, probably in late spring or early summer 2024, will be S Rukiah’s The Fall and the Heart/Kejatuhan dan Hati. There are a few English language copies that should be available, thanks to the kind efforts of Annabel Gallop. If you would like to read it in Indonesian, please do start looking out for a copy.

Hi, my name is Shakyra. I’d just like to ask where did you get that version of “Laut Bercerita”/“The Sea Speaks His Name”? I’d really love an english translated copy with that version of the cover. Thank you.

Hi Shakyra the English version of Laut Bercerita is published by Penguin Randomhouse, available in Amazon. Hope that you will be joining us in our October book club with the book “Sapaan Sang Giri”
