Membership

The Anglo-Indonesian Society has over 300 Corporate and Individual Members. The Society encourages newcomers who have an active interest in Indonesia and who support the aims of the Society to become Members. The election of Members is at the discretion of the Council. Members must be aged 18 years or older.

If you are interested in becoming a Member, simply fill out and submit the Enquiry Form in the section Contact Us, explaining the reasons for your interest.

Alternatively, if you already know a Member of the Society, you can ask them to sponsor a membership application from you. They can arrange for our Membership Secretary to send you a Membership Application Form by email.

Current membership subscription rates are:

  • Corporate Membership subscription is £50 per annum
  • Individual Membership subscription is £10 per annum
  • Membership for Full-time Students is free of charge

Membership entitles you to attend the Society’s monthly lectures free of charge. You may also on occasion bring a limited number of guests. You will receive by email the Society’s monthly newsletter giving details of the Society’s forthcoming programme of events, details of upcoming Indonesian-related events in Britain and news of the Society.

The Society also provides details to its Members of its Database of Opportunities for Volunteering, Study and Adventure in Indonesia. This database is a unique list of different opportunities for young British people (and the young in heart) to get away from the tourist track and really get to know Indonesia in their gap year or career break. The opportunities listed include Indonesian government scholarships, environmental projects, charity work, home stays and much more. It is of particular interest for sixth forms and universities. If you want to know more about it, please fill out and submit the Enquiry Form in the section Contact Us, explaining your particular interest.

The Council particularly welcomes Members taking part in its working groups to develop and expand the Society’s activities. Such involvement provides an opportunity for Members to contribute to UK-Indonesian relations while at the same time making new friends and developing their organisational skills.
